How to care for your Jonathan’s® Spoons
Love your spoons and they’ll love you back! Our spoons are designed to be used in any kitchen. With proper care, your new Jonathan’s Spoons will bring you years of cooking enjoyment.
It is natural for the color of our spoons to deepen with use and age. Their beauty goes beyond skin deep; they are the cherished utensils we always reach for.
Cleaning Do’s and Dont’s:
Do ~
- Handwash your spoons with mild soap and water, air dry or pat dry with a towel.
- Use a Scotchbrite® pad when extra scrubbing is necessary.
- Keep your wood looking it’s best by applying mineral oil, coconut oil, or our favorite Spoon Wax when inspired. (link Spoon Wax to product page to purchase) Wood is a natural material, and like your hands, benefits from a natural moisturizer from time to time.
Don’t ~
- Do not put your wooden utensils in the dishwasher. The intense heat and pressure can extract the natural antibacterial properties that keep your spoons looking and performing well for years.
- Do not boil or soak your spoons in water for extended periods of time.
- Do not use a metal brillo pad to scrub your spoons, use a Scotchbrite® or natural scrubby instead.
- Do not rest your spoons in a cast iron pan or metal rack, as this may leave black marks on your spoons.
Jonathan’s® Spoon Wax
All of our Jonathan’s Spoons products love to be treated with this
spoon wax!
Our Spoon wax is pure and natural; a simple combination of beeswax and organic coconut oil. Feel confident using this wax on any of your wooden utensils or cutting boards.
Sustainability
Jonathan’s Spoons are perfect for the conscientious cook, and our environment!
Our utensils are made from select cherry wood; sustainably harvested and fully biodegradable. We purchase our lumber from companies that practice responsible harvesting, and our wood scraps are used to heat our homes in the winter.
Returns / Exchanges
If you have changed your mind on a purchase, or the spoon you have ordered is not what you intended, we do accept returns and/or exchanges within 20 days.
