GENERAL SUMMARY
Plans and coordinates manufacturing activities through Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Purchasing, Quality, Tooling, and Production Control supervision to ensure efficient production of parts with the best material usage, quality levels, and service that exceed the customer’s expectations. Responsible for ensuring all key measures are met from plant operations. Manage and promote matters related to safety, health, environmental, labor control, equipment, material, and process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Lead, plan, and manage all manufacturing activities and related functions including production, engineering, maintenance, purchasing, quality, tooling, and production control to ensure safety and quality and to meet and exceed customer and company requirements.
- Lead manufacturing supervision in utilizing Total Quality Production System (TQPS) techniques to standardize processes/methods and to identify manufacturing problems and raw materials/components supply and eliminate waste.
- Develop and monitor Lean activities and a manufacturing continuous improvement system.
- Review launch products and engineering changes implementation and provide direction for successful launch.
- Plan and organize layouts for line changes due to volume changes or manpower reductions.
- Maintain contact with interdepartmental managers to provide feedback when dealing with process or material changes.
- Hold daily staff meetings to communicate daily objectives and discuss successes, failures, and countermeasure activity.
- Ensure philosophies, systems, and processes are being followed at all times.
- Maintain Master Capacity Plan for the facility for accurate budget and capital needs.
- Understand and execute all plant policies and procedures.
- Structure and implement plant policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of the company and its associates.
- Ensure alignment of plant policies and procedures, including associate handbook, with corporate policies and procedures.
- Manage plant practices and procedures in compliance with company and industry standards (e.g., TS16949 and ISO14001).
- Lead development and management of annual plan, budget, key measures, operating efficiency, and cost control.
- Administer annual plan that incorporates safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction, and associate morale.
- Mutually establish goals and objectives with next level leader.
- Ensure plant goals are met and kept on track.
- Ensure Goals and Objectives have Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time bound characteristics and are supportive of the strategic vision of the Shareholders, Board of Directors, and C-Suite executives.
- Establish Leading and lagging indicators with divisional leaders to ensure strategic success.
- Ensure weekly and monthly reports properly and accurately communicate the state of the business clearly within the organization and to the C-suite executive team.
- Provide proper resources in areas where objectives fail to meet plan to ensure course correction moves us back towards the stated objectives.
- Develop annual plan and budget for plant aligned with corporate goals as the foundation to keep the plant moving in a safe, quality conscious, and efficient upward trend.
- Develop, plan, and maintain the budget for plant including making adjustments to achieve targets. Maintain direct and indirect labor budgets while meeting quality and order fill requirements.
- Review and track posted daily, weekly, and monthly goals (including Key Measure targets and results), spot potential problems, and lead in formulating and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures and solutions.
- Review and plan headcount weekly for labor cost control and operating equipment efficiency (OEE).
- Oversee the monthly reporting documents that are finalized for the plant, ensuring accuracy and completion. Report out monthly reports with targets. Conduct Monthly Management Review meetings.
- Lead management discussions and planning sessions to help formulate cost reduction, waste reduction, product improvement, and problem-solving activities, and present operational performance daily/weekly.
- Act as key contact for customers.
- Conduct plant tours and host customer meetings as required.
- Ensure all parts are made to customer requirements in accordance with company policy.
- Manage and direct staff in assigned Manufacturing group with a focus on equipment, processes, human resource allocation, cost management, setting priorities, removing roadblocks, and leading through problem identification and resolution, and implementation of short- and long-term corrective actions to manufacturing problems.
- Assign production and engineering staff to support all assigned projects on time and budget with accepted quality.
- Lead staff in activities to meet and improve standard costs of operation both in material and output; minimize downtime; maintain good 5S at all times; reduce cost of quality internal/external failure and PPM; optimize material utilization; optimize raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory; improve material specifications; and maintain preventative maintenance program.
- Develop and maintain positive associate relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony.
- Provide direction and motivation to associates emphasizing quality, efficiency, productivity, cost reduction, safety and health, and morale.
- Ensure further development of associates through performance evaluation, development of training plans, feedback, coaching, and cascade training. Update associate training matrix and schedule any needed training.
- Conduct monthly meetings with associates to communicate state of business.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Greater than ten (10) years functional leadership experience as a manager in a manufacturing environment, including automotive stamping, welding, and/or related components (e.g., seating, emissions, ride control, NVH, tooling, and other miscellaneous components).
- General understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and welding equipment and tooling including design, automation, robotics, or manufacturing processes (and all secondary related processes) relating to automotive stamping.
- Working knowledge of tool, gauges and equipment design, automation, robotics, and/or manufacturing processes.
- Practical experience and working knowledge of Preventive Maintenance systems.
- Practical experience applying Lean principles in an automotive environment.
- General understanding and practical work experience with automotive quality systems and processes.
- Working knowledge of material types specifications and characteristics used in automotive stampings.
- Practical experience applying Total Quality Production System (TQPS) principles in an automotive environment.
- Thorough understanding of company product, trade terminology, quality management and control systems and techniques, manufacturing processes including material controls, work flow, scheduling, Kanban, and equipment and machine operation.
- Versed in statistical data entry and utilization of trend analysis.

- Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime, and have the ability to work a schedule that allows completion of the job on a daily basis.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language (English) used in the workplace.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish for Mexico-based operations.
- Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Internet, etc.).
