SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates activities of members engaged in maintaining, repairing and installing a variety of machines and equipment in the facility. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, recommends improvements in methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Ensures compliance with all safety, quality and housekeeping standards. Provides technical support to designated projects and production lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- • Understands that the Maintenance group is responsible for and evaluated by the measured downtime of the production areas
• Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create a schedule that meets both internal and external needs
• Evaluate all work orders to determine appropriate actions and personnel needed. Ensure the availability of various parts and tooling needs for repairs and work orders.
• Evaluates special projects such as program changes, machine/jig modifications and equipment moves to ensure all changes are made to schematics and blueprints
• Establish work content and frequency for all preventative maintenance activities. Establish a schedule (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.) for all preventative maintenance actions and perform spot inspections plantwide.
• Develop and maintain all equipment specifications and history data. Evaluate production equipment repair history and analyze all reports.
• Monitor and track causes of production downtime and implement countermeasures
• Plan, schedule, and order all necessary material, equipment, tools and spare parts to complete daily activities; analyze equipment manuals for stocking repair parts
• Ensures effective member relations on a daily basis, provides member coaching and development, makes equipment decisions and resolves member concerns through problem resolution
• Ensures that company policies, procedures and rules are followed
• Interviews prospective maintenance and engineering members and candidates to fill vacancies
• Track and perform member evaluations on review schedule
• Responsible for processes, equipment, members, safety and housekeeping in the maintenance area and meeting production and quality standards on a daily basis
• Balances quality, safety, productivity, cost and morale to achieve positive results
• Responsible for overall facility maintenance to include space allocation and layout, communication services, contract service agreements and the maintenance of the grounds, fire protection, housekeeping and security.
• Recognize and initiate cost reduction and manufacturing process improvement projects in order to increase efficiencies, improve product quality, reduce scrap, improve quality, safety and productivity and monitor/track causes of production downtime and implement countermeasures
• Responsible for the overall management of the site stockroom. Plan, schedule and order all necessary material, equipment, tools and spare parts to complete daily activities. Analyze equipment manuals for stocking repair parts.
• Provides technical assistance to production for work orders related to tooling and equipment. Works closely with outside contractors on equipment repair and improvements.
• Performs thorough accident investigations
• Maintains the member timekeeping system
• Ensure that members receive appropriate and adequate training and development
• Counsels, records and applies appropriate discipline as necessary
• Develops team leaders to effectively oversee the daily routines and the maintenance members
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have the ability to interact and understand people
• Good knowledge of the Toyota Production System
• Good working knowledge of manufacturing system, processes, materials and maintenance activities
EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
OR
- Technical School Certification
- 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment A MUST
- Strong mechanical and electrical background
- Strong PLC knowledge
